The Black Studies program presents Dr. Shirley Portwood in a
lecture and book signing. Dr. Portwood is a professor emeritus in the SIUE
Department of Historical Studies. She is the author “Tell Us A Story: An African American Family in the
Heartland”. Her book speaks to the importance and value of collecting
family histories.
Dr. Portwood’s talk and book
signing will take place in the Cougar Bookstore on the first floor of the
Morris University Center. There will be copies of Dr. Portwood’s book available
for purchase at the book signing immediately following her talk.
